Botox is a botulinum toxin that is a neurotoxic protein that prevents the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from axon ending at the neuromuscular junction temporarily causing the facial muscle that cause wrinkles to relax. Its is safe from anyone 18 years old and older. Its typically best to start in your 30’s and it good for preventative measures before wrinkles even appear. Botox gives a more youthful appearance and can accentuate some facial features such as the “lip flip” giving a more full top lip appearance.
It may take 1-2 weeks for the results to settle in and can last as long as 3-4 months.
Cost? $10 a unit with an average of 20-40 units.
